Hsin Pei Chiang's inspiration for the "Learn for Entertainment" project stemmed from a client's desire to provide a comprehensive learning environment for his growing children. The client, who had established his own brand, wanted to effectively put his learned theories into practice. After several discussions, the designer aimed to create a space that seamlessly combined education and living. The result is a functional domain filled with recreation, equipped with adjustable partitions, a nature-themed wall, uniquely styled whiteboards, and a washbasin tailored to children's height.
What sets this design apart from others is its commitment to health and eco-friendliness. All facilities, including teacher desks, adjustable classrooms, reading rooms, bathrooms, and outdoor balconies, are constructed from non-toxic, eco-friendly building materials. The design also incorporates acoustic materials, noise barriers, fastener medium-density fiberboards, low formaldehyde paints, iron light tubes, gentle illumination, wood materials, laminate flooring, and open cabinets to create a transparent and child-friendly environment.
The design's technical specifications are equally impressive. The space is adorned with pure and fresh colors, embellished with colorful paints that evoke images of blue skies and sunlight. The client wanted a place that valued children's independence and could instill a proper sense of value in them. To achieve this, the designer carefully constructed the space, balancing sense and sensibility.
Despite the challenges of designing within a limited space of 50 square meters, the designer managed to create a flexible and safe learning environment that adhered to regulations such as the Fire Services Act. The designer also incorporated energy recovery ventilation and used low formaldehyde materials to ensure the children's health. Noise barriers were installed in each classroom to prevent interference during classes, and special fasteners were used to create flexible spaces for performances or scientific experiments.
The "Learn for Entertainment" project was completed in July 2019 in New Taipei City, Taiwan, and has since received the prestigious Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021. This award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation. Hsin Pei Chiang's design, admired for its strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, certainly fits this description.
